I'm a software engineer from Berlin, Germany. Before, I was a professional athlete of the German national team in modern pentathlon (swimming, fencing, running, shooting, horse riding). Besides work, I like to road bike and go for a run.

I was the lead engineer behind one of the few systems that applied game-theoretically optimal solutions in online poker cash games, outperforming human players in 6-max No-Limit Hold'em. We precomputed huge simulation sets using counterfactual regret minimization and additionally recalculated the game tree dynamically based on the actual game state in real time, to reach higher accuracy. We extracted game states with custom built image recognition pipelines and our own OCR model. Our solution was used by high stakes players on all major poker sites. This was pre-AI era.

During university, we also built a data pipeline to estimate CO2 emissions of compute jobs in the university's data center, and collaborated with BMW Motorrad on an analytics pipeline to optimize their warehouses for non-serial materials (materials not consumed proportionally to customer orders).

I open-sourced a data notebook which is essentially DuckDB as an in-browser database and a fully working Linux-like filesystem in the browser, allowing all database operations to work efficiently without having to keep data in memory.

I'm currently working on foundational voice AI models at KugelAudio.
